General Employment
When will the transition to Compass Group take place?
The transition date is scheduled for July 1, 2026. Between now and the transition date, the Compass team, in partnership with university leadership, will implement a detailed transition plan with operational leadership, on-site and corporate support team members. We understand the transition will not take place overnight and are taking careful steps to ensure that there will be no interruptions to these important services for students, visitors, and team members.
Will I keep the same job?
Jobs held by hourly team members will remain the same as part of the transition. There may or may not be some opportunities for change in the future. If we assess the need to make any changes to meet operational needs, we will be working closely with you to understand the impact of any changes.
Do I have to interview?
The transition process includes a short application to input your information into our system. No interview is required. All hourly team members are welcome to transition to Compass Group.
Do I need to complete any pre-employment requirements to be hired by Compass Group?
Yes, you will need to complete a new background check and a new Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) to transition to Compass Group. Pre-employment screenings will be administered and/or coordinated during the onboarding sessions.
Will my years of service be credited when I transition to a role with Compass Group?
Yes, Compass Group will recognize your date of hire with the university.
Will my work schedule change?
We will do our best not to disrupt current schedules or impact individual’s needs. If there are specific changes that must occur, it will be addressed with the individuals impacted by such a decision to determine how to jointly minimize disruption. The Director/Manager at your facility will handle all schedules.
What policies and procedure will I follow?
Beginning July 1, 2026, you will follow Compass Group’s policies and procedures.
Will my uniform change?
Please continue to wear your current uniform. We will notify you of any changes in the future.
Will I have to get a new badge?
You will continue to use your current badge for now. If a change is made, the process and timeline will be communicated. Your access will remain the same.
Will I have to satisfy an orientation period for employment with Compass Group?
No, there will be no probationary period for transitioning team members.
Compensation & Performance Reviews
Will I keep my same rate of pay?
Yes, your current base pay rate will be honored.
How often do Compass Group employees get paid?
Compass Group frontline employees are paid on a bi-weekly pay cycle on Fridays. Pay periods and pay dates vary by department.
Campus Dining Team Members:
· Campus Dining’s two-week pay period starts on a Friday and ends on a Thursday.
· Your first paycheck will be on Friday, July 17, 2026 for hours worked on July 1 through July 9.
· Your first full paycheck will be on Friday, July 31, 2026 for hours worked on Friday, July 10 through Thursday, July 23.
Campus Athletics Team Members:
· Campus Athletics’ two-week pay period starts on a Saturday and ends on a Friday.
· Your first paycheck will be on Friday, July 10, 2026 for hours worked on July 1 through July 3.
· Your first full paycheck will be on Friday, July 24, 2026 for hours worked on Saturday, July 4 through Friday, July 17.
How will I be paid?
All Compass Group employees are required to sign up for direct deposit or a payroll card. The payroll card allows you to have your paycheck electronically deposited into an account and withdrawn at ATMs or used at Point-of-Sale merchants. The payroll card does not require you to open a checking account. There is no monthly fee for the payroll card, and you are entitled to one (1) free ATM withdrawal per week.
Who do I go to if I have questions about my paycheck?
For paycheck questions, please speak with your immediate supervisor.
How will I access my paystub through Compass Group?
Through our Compass Associate Portal (CAP); you will be able to register using your personnel number. With CAP you will have access to your schedules, check timesheets and review paystubs. You can also make changes to your personal information such as change of address, tax, and direct deposit.
Benefits
When will I be eligible for benefits with Compass Group?
You will be eligible for benefits on July 1, 2026. More information regarding benefit options will be shared at a later date.
If I do not elect to enroll in benefits at the time of eligibility, when will I have the opportunity to enroll again?
November of each year is open enrollment. At that time, you may make additions, cancellations, and changes to your plans for coverage effective January 1st of the following year. If you have a “life event” during the year (such as getting married or the birth of a child), you may be eligible to enroll at that time. Please contact the benefit department to discuss should a “life event” occur.
Which medical carriers are available to us?
Medical carriers are offered by state, with one provider typically acting as the preferred provider with preferred pricing. The preferred carrier for Kentucky is Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. You also have access to enroll in Aetna & United Healthcare.
Will I have to change doctors if I enroll in the Compass Group health plan?
Each insurance plan offered by Compass Group has an extensive network of healthcare professionals who accept the plan. Prior to enrolling in a specific insurance plan, review the network and/or contact your healthcare professional to determine which insurance plan(s) is accepted.
Does Compass Group offer a retirement plan?
Yes, Fidelity Investments administers the 401(k)-retirement plan offered by Compass Group. Full-time and part-time team members of Compass Group are eligible for pre-tax contributions of 1% - 100% of your salary (additional “catch-up contributions” available in the year you turn 50).
When will I be eligible to participate in the Compass Group 401 (k) Plan?
You will be eligible to enroll with the 401(k) plan after you receive your first paycheck. Once you receive your first paycheck you will be able to set up your deductions directly with Fidelity.
Who do I go to if I have questions about my benefits?
More information about benefits will be provided during onboarding meetings. For benefits questions after you have received your benefit packet, you may call the Compass Group One HR Number at 1-877-311-4747 or speak with an onsite Compass Group HR representative.
Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick, Holiday)
Will Compass Group honor vacation requests for designated dates that have been previously approved by my current facility?
Yes, within reason. Time off requests that were previously approved will be honored whenever possible. At Compass Group, we are committed to maintaining service excellence, and staffing levels must support the continued smooth operation of our services.
What happens to my current time off balance?
Please contact your current employer’s Human Resources for further specifics on how your current PTO accruals will be handled.
What is the Compass Group’s PTO policy?
More information regarding department-specific PTO policies will be shared with employment groups at a later date.
When will I be eligible for FMLA coverage?
Your original hire date will be used for FMLA purposes. By law, this type of situation is reflected under the “Successor of Interest” clause for FMLA. Maternity and paid parental leave will now fall under FMLA with Compass Group.
I am currently out on intermittent FMLA, how does that affect my job status?
Your FMLA status will carry over with Compass Group. We will work with HR to determine how much time you have taken. You will be required to send in new medical certification documents to Compass Group’s Leave of Absence department.

We have a lot to accomplish for a successful transition. Do not worry, Compass Group’s HR Representatives and Operational leaders will be taking good care of you.
· Onboarding Meetings: Please be sure to attend one of our onboarding meetings. The team will be onsite the weeks of June 1st and June 8th to assist in completing your onboarding documents. Stay tuned for more communication.
o Please look for flyers around your work area for specific dates, times and how to sign up for a session.
o Your attendance at one of these meetings is required if you would like to transition with Compass Group.
